It’s widely acknowledged that the financial services sector is the world’s largest in terms of earnings.  Less obvious is the fact that it’s also the least competitive in private equity circles.  In fact, the sector represented a mere 5% of all the private equity deals done in 2006.

Yet, improved understanding of its risks and opportunities together with its attractive growth metrics and the entry of more and more pools of capital have combined to spark an expanding interest in specific segments of the industry, such as consumer finance and the fragmented insurance sector.

Also, middle-market private equity firms are getting wiser about the risk/return tradeoffs available in financial services, i.e., though players may not always achieve home runs, they’re more likely to avoid strikeouts.

The Capital Roundtable’s upcoming MasterClass on P.E.  investing in middle-market financial services companies is designed to help you understand the challenges and opportunities of investing in this potentially lucrative sector.

The program is being led by Mitchell L. Hollin of Philadelphia-based LLR Partners, a veteran in private equity dealmaking and one of the earliest significant investors in the financial services space.

During the course of a full day, you’ll hear from a distinguished panel of 20 experts, including prominent P.E. managers operating funds of different sizes and strategies, respected P.E. GPs and LPs, and experienced intermediaries and other professional services providers, all of whom will offer unique perspectives, insights, and recommendations.

For example, you’ll discover why the asset management and business services sectors have seen the bulk of activity, and why other sectors, namely insurance and specialty finance, are gaining popularity.

Our program will include plenty of time for Q&A as well as free time to interact with panel members.  This program is sponsored by the private equity team at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP, which also boasts one of the country’s major financial services legal practices as well.  It is produced by The Capital Roundtable™, the country's only information education organization focused exclusively on the private-equity community.

Sign up for this MasterClass now.  And while you’re at it, consider enrolling in the special half-day workshop the day before (Monday September 24), focusing on the “Fundamentals of Doing Financial Services Deals – Winning the Economics.”

Those attending the full-day MasterClass will --
