- The processes that different LPs use in selecting funds and managers.
- Should you use consultants or placement agents? How do you find and choose a good one?

Agenda
More than half the world's private equity and
venture capital firms say they plan to raise new funds before the end
of this year. So (to say the least) the competition is stiff, and the
process promises to be protracted and challenging.
Still, there's a great deal
of capital available. Many institutional investors and funds-of-funds
have been sitting on cash hoards for the past three years, some are having
their allocations limited by prominent GPs who plan to take down smaller
amounts, and a few are being excluded altogether by GPs who worry that
the confidentiality of their portfolio data may be compromised.
The purpose of this special
New York Capital Roundtable MasterClass is to give you the opportunity
to hear from seasoned experts about tactics and strategies you can use
to maximize your chances for success in closing your next fund, in attracting
the best limited partners, and in getting the best possible terms.
If you have a new or emerging
or follow-on venture fund, and you're worried about your chances for raising
capital, or a smaller middle-market private equity fund, and you want
to nail down commitments while the market is hot, you can't afford to
miss this information-packed day.
This MasterClass is chaired by Steve Costabile, who heads the private
equity funds unit of the Global Investment Group of American International
Group Inc., the giant international financial services company. Under
Steve's direction are 280 funds, which have committed capital of about
$5 billion in private equity, venture capital, and secondaries.
Joining him will be 15 other
speakers, including limited partners, placement agents, fund-of-fund managers,
consultants, attorneys, and accountants who are all well-versed in fund-raising.
The final panel consists of GPs who have been through the experience,
and share their hard-won lessons learned.
Plenty of free time is built into this program
so you can interact with the 15 faculty members, and get answers to the
particular questions that are pressing for you and the members of your
team.
