NETWORKING LUNCHEON

WITH CAPITAL PARTNERS

Thursday, June 22, 2017

1:00 – 3:00

Coming up in a few weeks is The Capital Roundtable’s 12th annual independent sponsor conference.

Now that the dealmaking environment is tougher than ever, it’s vital for you to attend.

Learn how to navigate current challenges --

  • Valuations are extremely high, and it’s hard to find bargains
  • More competitors are entering the markets (for example, family offices)
  • Pressure on deal economics is intense
  • The political and macroeconomic outlook is uncertain
  • Regulators are increasingly concerned about independent sponsors

Still, there are plenty of opportunities for independent sponsors --

  • More sources of capital and debt are streaming into the market
  • High valuations are a plus if you’ve got a portfolio company to divest
  • Still-low interest rates mean mezzanine firms want to boost returns by backing independent sponsors

We’re excited to be bringing back ourCapital Circle.”  That’s where capital sources are stationed at tables in our exhibit hall, ready to meet face-to-face with Independent Sponsors, to exchange deal information, and to network.

Click here to register to hear our 20+ speakers address such key points as --

  • What is the economic outlook under the Trump administration, really?
  • Why might 2017 be a better year for deal making than 2016?
  • When will deal flow pick up again?
  • Thinking of raising a fund? What are the plusses and minuses?
  • How can you engage with mezzanine firms and others looking for a better return?
  • How can you engage with institutional investors like family offices looking to do more direct deals?
  • Are banks’ strategies for partnering with independent sponsors evolving?
  • What are your options if you want to do a deal without outside equity?
  • What sectors offer the best opportunity to do deals? And which should be avoided?
  • How do you handle online deal rooms where information is incomplete?

Here Are Three Key Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. Learn where capital sources are looking for proprietary deal flow.
  2. Hear what investment bankers have to say about working with independent sponsors.
  3. When and why should you consider transitioning from an independent sponsor to a funded sponsor.

Register Now to Join Mark Ullman & 20 Other Industry Experts

We’re pleased to welcome Mark Ullman as this year’s chairman.  He is general partner of Charter Oak Equity, a Conn.-based independent sponsor.  He leads investments in EiKO Global (virtual manufacturer of lighting products), ShelterLogic (shelters, canopies, and sheds), and Smart Care (SaaS business focused on daycare).

Mark spent the bulk of his career with McKinsey & Co., most recently as a senior partner. He founded McKinsey's private equity practice, as well as led the New York–based corporate finance practice.

He earned a BS in operations research in 1982 and MBA in 1983, both from Cornell and both with distinction.

Register Now to Hear 20 Experts Reveal What You Must Know

Along with Mark, our panel presentations will feature 20 highly knowledgeable independent sponsors and capital sources. You’ll hear their real-world perspectives and winning strategies, plus insights on negotiating deals.

You’ll also discover what makes for a good deal. Coming up with deals isn’t the hard part -- the ones that get the backers are those who know good from not-so-good deals and how to harvest the capital they receive.

Here Are Three Key Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. If you’re a capital source, network and learn how to identify which independent sponsors are the best fit for your strategy -- and are most likely to get you to the closing table.
  2. Hear from established deal makers about which sectors make sense to hunt for deals in right now.
  3. Learn how to approach not just private equity firm GPs, but mezz funds, hedge funds, family offices, and wealthy individuals.

P.S.  Who are “independent sponsors”? These are the thousands of private equity dealmakers who buy and build smaller middle-market companies on a deal-by-deal basis, without access to a pool of committed capital from limited partners.

Instead, after they orchestrate each deal, they invite other investors and lenders to pitch in. Formerly known as “fundless” or “unfunded” sponsors, these independent professionals get rewarded chiefly by sourcing attractive deals and then rolling up their sleeves and helping management teams enhance the value of the companies they buy.
