In recent months, more and more PE investors have gotten excited about healthcare support organizations (HSOs) -- the fast-growing behind-the-scenes companies to whom medical practitioners now outsource their administrative minutiae so they can focus on helping their patients.

Middle-market PE firms add operational efficiencies, as well as needed capital. And they introduce new technologies and best practices for business functions.

HSOs provide a wide range of services such as billing and collections, government reimbursement oversight, coding, revenue cycle management, strategic planning, and marketing.

Examples of healthcare practices that turn to HSOs include dentists, dermatologists, veterinarians, physical therapists, wound care managers, specialty behavioral therapists, healthcare educators, dialysis centers, and emergency care centers.

Some forward-thinking PE firms are even branching into affiliated businesses -- e.g., Cressey recently acquired a chain of dental laboratories to make orthodontics, and Blue Wolf Capital owns Healthcare Laundry Systems. Even LPs are entering the field -- e.g., Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan invested in a physical therapy support organization.

Register now to attend The Capital Roundtable’s all-NEW conference --

“Private Equity Investing in Healthcare Support Organizations,"

being held in New York City on Tuesday, October 25."

Our 20 knowledgeable speakers will boost your knowledge of this attractive area through their first-hand experiences and by answering these and other key questions --

  • What misconceptions are there about investing in middle-market medical and dental HSOs -- and what is the reality?
  • What practice areas are ripe for HSO growth besides the traditional medical and dental arenas? Veterinary? Behavioral care? Emergency centers? Dermatology? Others?
  • What areas of focus within HSOs may likely hold the best opportunities for investors in 2017?
  • What are the metrics and valuation guidelines that can help you best evaluate HSO middle-market deals?
  • How can first-time investors in the HSO sector avoid traps and pitfalls?
  • How are current and forthcoming government regulations likely to affect HSOs in years to come?
  • What changes among hospitals, insurers, and physician groups are likely to affect the HSO landscape.
