With interest and default rates hovering at all-time lows over the last few years and PE multiples returning to pre-recession highs, many struggling companies haven’t needed to look very hard to find fresh capital to fund their survival.
This environment has led to a dearth of distressed investment opportunities for PE investors who specialize in renewal and turnaround situations, and who have had to struggle to find worthwhile deals.
Are there signs that conditions may be changing? Has the credit cycle finally come to an end?
Here are four harbingers that may be leading to a fresh wave of opportunities for these PE investors --
Combine those four with these four others --
Additionally, common default predictors are now at levels not seen since 2008 and 2009.
If you agree there are “storms” approaching, and you want to position yourself to best find, buy, fix, and exit distressed deals in the years to come -- enroll today for this all new conference from The Capital Roundtable -- “Private Equity Investing in Distressed Companies" -- being held in New York City on Thursday, April 14.
We've assembled presenters from firms with successful track records who can discuss what worked for them during the last cycle and what didn’t. They will help guide you.
You'll hear how to find and win deals. Where you should spend your time sourcing. Insights on how to effectively manage through the purchase and sale process to get over the finish line.
You'll hear how best to turn around distressed businesses. These businesses require prioritized initiatives to succeed. Reducing the chaos and focusing the right team members on the key drivers of near term survival and medium term growth is critical.
You'll hear from experienced distressed investors on what has worked for them and what hasn’t. Investing in a distressed business is fraught with risk. Experience and pattern recognition capabilities play a large role in the success or failure of an investment. Senior practitioners at this conference will share their experiences, good and bad, to help you improve the probability of investing success.
