8:00 am – 5:00 pm
New York City

Designed to Meet the Needs of GPs, LPs, & Managers of Buyout, Growth Equity, Mezzanine, & Lending Funds, as Well as Independent Sponsors, Operating Partners, Portfolio Company Managers, and the Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants,

& Other Advisors Who Support Them

Faculty | Schedule | Registration | Location | Sponsorship | Audio Package |

For five years in a row, The Capital Roundtable has been the market leader in assembling vital information for operating partners seeking better performance.

Maybe you have a thin in-house operations team and supplement their capabilities with outside consultants.  Or maybe you have a small complement of operations professionals, but with some very senior specialists.  Or maybe you have a larger operations staff who share core competencies with your investment team.

However you structure your operations bench, proactive management of portfolio companies is the key driver for value creation in this complicated economy.

And you’ll want to attend our ninth semi-annual conference on “Best Practices for

Overseeing Private Equity Portfolio Companies” being held in New York City on

          Thursday, September 13.

While many PE firms want to restructure their operations approach, the economics have to be considered.  Fundraising has become more difficult, and the fees coming out of funds much smaller.

Moreover, there must be a commitment to changing the firm’s culture as well.  Stronger collaboration pays many benefits, but firms must be prepared to adjust portfolio management responsibilities and who votes on which decisions.

Plus, you’ll have to address how the operating partners are viewed by the portfolio company managers – invaluable problem-solvers? Or “spies?”

Plus we’re creating value of our own for attendees who register early.  Sign up for

this conference before July 20, 2012, and you will quality for our Early Bird Rate --

          a generous discount of $400.

To chair this conference, we’re delighted to welcome Pericles Mazarakis, Managing Director at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a leading private equity firm based in Boston.  THL has raised approximately $20 billion of equity capital and invested in more than 100 businesses with an aggregate purchase price of more than $150 billion.

Pericles joined THL in 2010.  Prior to that, he was a senior operations executive at Cerberus Capital Management, worked at YUM Brands! as chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut International, and was V.P. marketing and business development at Bristol Myers Squibb. He also spent several years at McKinsey & Co., consulting mostly to consumer, retail, and media clients.

Pericles holds a BS in economics from the Penn’s Wharton School and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business.

20 Portfolio Company Specialists With Practical Recommendations You Can Use

Along with Pericles and our keynote presenters, our four all-new panel discussions will feature 20 knowledgeable operating partners, deal partners, and functional specialists who will share their real-world perspectives, lessons learned, and industry outlooks, including insights on their current portfolio companies.

You’ll also hear why there is strong emphasis today on cross-portfolio initiatives, including such areas as health care, purchasing, and IT spend.  Many PE firms are developing in-house experts who analyze all their portfolio companies to save $3 million here, $10 million there… all adding up to a highly worthwhile endeavor.

And you’ll learn how you can to make inroads on cutting costs without harming morale.

Register now to get the answers to important questions like these --

  • What are the key strategies for creating value through operations-driven initiatives?
  • How do I build an operating partner team to fit my firm’s needs?
  • How can I take advantage of quick cost-reduction hits without jeopardizing the focus on real top-line growth?
  • Who are the experts at identifying and managing cross-portfolio initiatives?
  • What savings can I expect by maximizing our procurement procedures?
  • What operations questions should I be asking to optimize my due diligence?
  • When should I be rewarding current management, and when should I be recruiting new talent?
  • What available tools can help with such necessities as organizational improvement, demand forecasts, performance tracking and senior manager evaluation?
  • How can I sense whether it is the right time to exit?
  • What strategies will increase sales and pursue growth initiatives?
  • How can I develop a portfolio company agenda that balances easy short-term cost savings with sustainable longer-term initiatives?
  • How do I ensure competitive differentiation for portfolio companies with such attributes as price advantages, product innovation and customer service excellence?
  • And much, much more.

Make Valuable Connections And Build Future Relationships

Throughout the day, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to network with both your peers and with industry professionals.  Our agenda includes ample time, with session breaks and an open lunch, when you can exchange ideas and business cards with fellow attendees and featured speakers.

You should attend this conference if you are an --

  • Operating partner who wants to maximize the performance of your portfolio companies, and know how other firms are handling related issues.
  • GP considering employing operating partners and helping them enact change.
  • Institutional investor or independent sponsor who wants to better understand today’s operational considerations.
  • PE professional who wants to expand your skills beyond origination and financing.
  • Managing executive of a portfolio company who wants to be proactive in boosting future returns.

Remember, register with our Early Bird Rate by July 20, 2012, and you’ll save $400 off our standard fee!  Please make your reservation now so you’re not disappointed.  We’ll be looking forward to greeting you.
