FULL-DAY CONFERENCE

Thursday, October 4, 2012

8:00 am – 5:00 pm
New York City

Designed to Meet the Needs of GPs, LPs, & Managers of Buyout, Growth Equity, Mezzanine, & Lending Funds, as Well as Independent Sponsors, Operating Partners, Portfolio Company Managers, and the Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants,

& Other Advisors Who Support Them

Faculty | Schedule | Registration | Location | Sponsorship | Audio Package |

More and more wealthy families and individuals -- and their wealth advisors -- are subscribing to a new trend in how they invest in private equity.

What is increasingly of interest to them today are untraditional approaches.  New models, new structures, new thinking.

The more innovative GPs can be in terms of engineering new vehicles that cater to these evolving trends, the greater the likelihood of breaking into this lucrative source of investment capital.

Understanding and navigating the “New Normal” will be the mission of The Capital Roundtable’s upcoming ENCORE conference: “Raising Private Equity Funds from Family Offices & Wealthy Individuals,” being held in New York City on Thursday, October 4.

Plus we’re making it easy to find special savings. Just sign up for this conference before August 10, and your registration qualifies for our generous $400 Early Bird Discount.

As with our previous family offices conferences, you’ll hear how to locate and approach these typically secretive capital sources.  You can’t just search for “family offices” online and expect to find anything resembling a meaningful list -- these money managers have no interest in branding themselves.

Moreover, once you gain an audience, you need credibility going in the door and confidence in your story.  You’ll hear how to position yourself to take advantage of evolving structures and strategies that reflect the interests and needs of leading family office managers.

At this Roundtable, we’ll emphasize how important it is to do your homework.  This is an incredibly diverse group -- every family is different, asset sizes vary widely, and all have different investment strategies often focused on specific sectors and allocations.

Moreover, some family offices were formed generations ago and now have mature PE portfolios, while others have been recently formed and are just now focusing on building a diversified PE program.

Co-chairing this conference are two distinguished veteran private equity investors --

  • Daniel C. Lubin, chairman of Upsher Asset Management in New York City -- a single-family investment firm structured around a diversified portfolio of global investments.
  • Elan Schultz, managing partner of Quilvest USA, the famous multi-family office, and head of its New York operations – Elan is responsible for all of Quilvest’s direct buyout investments in the Americas.

Daniel is also a founder and managing partner of Radius Ventures, a growth capital fund focused on the healthcare sector. He earned a BS cum laude from Georgetown University’s  School of Foreign Service and an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School.

Elan was formerly a founding member and managing director of SG Capital Partners, a $450 million middle-market fund.  Prior to that, he was a member of DLJ Merchant Banking.  Elan earned a BBA with highest honors from the University of Texas, and an MBA from Stanford.

20 Family Office Specialists Tell You How They Put Money To Work

Along with Daniel and Elan, you’ll hear from prominent family office managers, GPs working with family office managers and wealthy individuals, and PE industry specialists.

They will drill into best practices in making fundraising presentations, preparing pitch books, negotiating GP/LP agreements, and arranging deal structures.

Four brand-new panel presentations will provide unique coaching on how to differentiate your fund and your raise the capital you need for a more successful 2013.

You’ll hear why it’s wise to set your sights beyond the United States: in addition to the large universe of family offices located in North America, there is deep pool of organized family offices in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, all of which are broadening their own horizons to new PE opportunities.

We’ll also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using a placement agent to make long-distance introductions.  If you choose to explore this route, you’ll know what due diligence to take, what questions to ask, and what fees to expect.

Register now to get the answers to important questions like these --

  • What are today’s main challenges that affect fundraising from family offices and wealthy individuals?
  • What innovative deal structures will get attention from family offices and wealthy individuals?
  • Why is it important to showcase your entrepreneurial streak when making your fundraising presentation?
  • What are the best ways for GPs to locate and secure introductions to family office managers?
  • What are the middle-market sectors that seem to be most attractive to family offices and wealthy individuals today?
  • What presentation materials best help family office professionals assess the value of your opportunity?
  • What are the most common presentation mistakes that GPs make?
  • What are the pros and cons of using placement agents for reaching family offices and wealthy individuals?
  • How can you gain family offices’ trust in meeting their needs for confidentiality?
  • And much, much more.

A Great Place To Expand Your Family Of Contacts

Family office professionals may be hard to find at most private equity events, but not at this conference.  This is one of the very few occasions when GPs and family office managers come together to make connections.

The day’s agenda includes ample time, with session breaks and an open lunch, when you can exchange ideas and business cards with both your peers and our featured speakers.

You should attend this conference if you are a --

  • Emerging manager looking to raise your first fund.
  • Experienced GP ready to cast your net wider for potential investors.
  • GP wanting to learn how best to pitch to family offices and wealthy individuals.
  • Family office manager seeking benchmarks to gauge your performance.
  • Fund of funds manager who wants to maximize upcoming opportunities.
  • Attorney or advisor involved with family offices and wealthy individuals.
  • Placement agent seeking new sources for closing young funds.
  • PE communications professional involved with presentations to family offices and wealthy individuals.
  • Executive search professional recruiting for the PE industry.

Remember, register with our Early Bird Rate by August 10, 2012, and you’ll save $400 off our standard fee!

Please make your reservation now so you’re not disappointed.  We’ll be looking forward to greeting you.
